From Echo to Clarity: Transforming an Executive Boardroom for Effective Video Calls

The Noise Challenge:

In our day-to-day work, the pervasive nature of noise often goes unnoticed. However, for effective video conferencing, a quiet environment is paramount. In this particular case, the client’s facility presented a significant acoustic challenge due to heavy machinery operations and frequent truck traffic.

Our Acoustic Treatment Solutions:

To overcome these challenges, AVC implemented a comprehensive acoustic treatment strategy. This involved utilizing high-quality sound absorption panels and diffusion technologies strategically placed throughout the room.

• Wall Treatment: The left wall was fitted with five sound absorption panels, which not only improved acoustics but also featured a striking lion print spanning their surface, adding a unique aesthetic element.
• Window Treatment: Covering the front window was crucial to mitigate primary sound reflections during conference calls.
• Chairman’s Backdrop: The rear of the room, featuring a refreshment bar, was enhanced with three custom sunset-printed panels, providing an elegant backdrop for the chairman.
• Ceiling Treatment: Thirteen sound absorption panels were carefully suspended from the ceiling by our skilled technicians, ensuring optimal acoustic performance without obstructing the ceiling-mounted speakers and microphones. Precise spacing and sizing were critical for this installation.

Impact on Room Acoustics:

The initial reverberation time (RT60) of the room was measured at 1.18 seconds. Through our meticulous acoustic treatment, we successfully reduced this to the target of 0.4 seconds, significantly improving audio clarity for remote participants.

We have installed the flagship Yealink MVC series equipment with a CM20 mic, 4 x CS10 ceiling speakers and a MTouch plus touch panel for controlling the system. This system enables the client to wirelessly present and join meetings with a dedicated Microsoft Teams Room compute device.
